Lower Back Pain
Lower back pain is something we look after very often here in our practice. Possibly you have a sharp stabbing, catching or ‘knife like’ pain as you move from sitting to standing or as you turn in bed. Potentially it is a band like stiffness or tightness that goes across your back or it may be an acute form of agony you need help with straight away.
Often the pain is the result of sustained poor posture – slouching or hunching forwards – or repetitive strain caused by everyday activities such as bending and lifting, but can also be related to trauma of some sort – a slip, trip, fall, the result of lifting something too heavy or a sports injury.
You may also be suffering from pain in your leg often referred to as sciatica.
Like any pain, discomfort in the lower back often stops you from getting on with things as easily as you’d like throughout your day, at work, at home and at play or perhaps affecting your ability to enjoy a good night’s sleep.
These struggles can cause additional stress, leaving you feeling grouchy and frustrated. As is the case with most health challenges, it’s important that the problem is addressed as soon as possible in order to give your body the best chance of a quick and effective recovery.
We will always closely investigate the cause of your problem. By assessing various lifestyle factors we can often pin down reasons beyond the obvious.
From here we would put together a personalised recovery plan, including bespoke exercises to help with long-term stability and help ensure that your lower back pain doesn’t return.
