In today’s world, there is rarely a time where our minds our “switched off.” If we’re not plugged in, we’re usually mobile; if we’re not spending time with friends and family, we’re doing it virtually. And during this time of year, stress and anxiety are easily heightened.
From gift shopping to planning events, the Christmas Holidays bring added stress and anxiety; however, this also means it’s the perfect time to let our brains hibernate and relax. Sleep is great for relaxation, but it’s time to do more for our bodies and allow them to fully recuperate. Mindfulness and Meditation Practices
At Chislehurst Chiropractic, we believe that practicing mindfulness and meditation can have significant health benefits. The goal of mindfulness and meditation is to release mental tension and calm the overactive brain without the use of drugs. Allowing the brain to relax and switch-off means that the body can produce the ideal chemicals and hormones for the best and most efficient healing.
We have recently integrated the following set of classes and programs to fulfill your mindfulness and meditation goals:
- Tai Chi
Each class focuses relaxing the mind and calming the body, and particular classes such as Pilates and Yoga offer fitness benefits as well.
Another mindfulness and meditation program we offer is Braintap. Braintap is an innovative system that uses Self Mastery Technology (SMT) to train the brain for relaxation. Using an LED-equipped visor and attached earphones, Braintap combines gentle light and sound pulses with visualisation to achieve the right balance of brain wave activity.
