Back to School Tips for Children

The team here at Chislehurst Chiropractic is passionate about supporting you, your family and the community through our wellness center. We aim to provide quality care for your children, and a great way to do that is by informing you of useful back to school tips!

School is underway, so we want to make sure that you are sending your children off to learn with a healthy body and mind. After all, a healthy body and mind only produce more energy for learning!

So what are some back to school tips that you should be implementing into your child’s daily routine?

  • Start your children off with a nutritious breakfast and pack enough healthy snacks and a lunch for the rest of the day. Instead of packing a soda, why not try filling up a water bottle or choosing a low-fat dairy product to drink? Remind your children to keep hydrated throughout the day!
  • When packing for school there are many good points to consider – keep it light, balanced and aim for double-strapped bags.
  • Kids go through the largest growth-spurt while they are in school. Clothes that are getting too small are easy to notice, but never forget that their feet are growing too! Well-fitted and soft-soled shoes are important for development and proper posture.
  • Encourage your child to be active – we know how they love to be couch potatoes! Exercise not only helps them get fit but also helps their bones and muscles get stronger.
  • If your child experiences any physical discomfort when participating in a physical activity, inform them to let their teacher or you know right away. With proper shoes and the appropriate level of exercise, children should not be feeling pain or discomfit unless something is wrong.
  • Come visit us for a periodic spinal check-up. Generally, parents are quite adamant on making sure their children receive dental check-ups or eye examinations, but a spinal check-up is just as important for the body’s overall health. We want to keep your child’s spine balanced and prevent any postural problems from developing as they grow.

Remember to stay healthy and happy! School can be much more enjoyable experience if your child is on a healthy path. If you have any more questions about your child’s health or our services for children, don’t hesitate to reach out to us at 020 8295 1733.
