TLC with a twist for mums!

TLC time for mum…(Tender Loving CHIROPRACTIC!)

Mothers tend to put everyone else ahead of themselves, which often means put their own needs and desires on the back burner. In reality, most of us need to create the healthy habit of putting ourselves first every once in a while. That’s likely to put you in a better mental and physical space so you then have more capacity to do everything you want to do with more ease, rather than running yourself into the ground. When you find yourself in a state of stress, there is the tendency to be less resourceful and more reactive or triggered.

Making the decision to devote some time to self-care is something only you can do. No one else can do that for you.

Hopefully you (and let’s not forget your mum or significant other) will feel appreciated this Mother’s Day. Just remember that you need to prioritise yourself sometimes too, so that you can be the best version of you, for you – AND for everyone around you.

New mum? New demands on your body

Delivering a baby is demanding enough on your body but once you’ve had your baby, you start doing a lot of repetitive movements involving bending and twisting that you probably wouldn’t have done before. Think of the number of times you bend to put baby in a car seat, change a nappy, feed baby or even just lift your little one in and out of the cot – and all of that is usually coupled with a lack of sleep.

It can be tiring and stressful being a new mum, so if your body is feeling even more fatigued from spinal and body stress, it can lead to problems and pain in the lower back, and more commonly the upper back and neck. Chiropractic adjustments can really help to re-align your spine and nervous system, helping to give you the strength you need to carry on bending and twisting even as baby grows.

When you come for chiropractic care, it’s time just for you. All you have to do is relax in the capable hands of your chiropractor and allow them to relieve the stress and strain that has built up.

Make the time……remember, health is wealth!

It’s not very often that you hear mums say that they have lots of free time on their hands but self-care doesn’t have to eat big chunks of your time. For instance, it could be something as simple like listening to some great music, breathing and meditating or indulging in a good book.

Let’s face it, it’s hard for mums to find quality time for themselves in the home or at work. We can’t always control our time or the environment we are in, but we do have some control over how well our body can cope with what is going on.

Your brain and nervous system are what govern your response to everything you interact with. One of the many things that chiropractic is great at is balancing out the stress within your nervous system, bringing you out of fight-or-flight mode and back in to the rest-and-digest part which allows healing to occur.

A healthy nervous system allows your body to function with much more ease and you are less likely to get run down. Chiropractic care can really help by making your nervous system function better and help you to get back to feeling more like you. The better you feel, the more you have to give to those you love.
